Human Design: A Sacred Map

This diagram was shared with our group of scholars long ago by a spiritual monk. It arrived in a simple form, yet it left me wondering, studying, and searching through ancient yogic texts for quite some time. Only after years of learning and contemplation was I able to bring it together in the form you see here - offered now to those who wish to understand themselves and the world more deeply.
This diagram is a profound visual map of the human design as seen through a spiritual lens - bridging ancient metaphysics with a layered understanding of consciousness, embodiment, and relational dynamics. Here’s a description, a philosophical interpretation for contemplation.
Human Design: A Sacred Map
At the heart of existence lies a continuum between the Spiritual World and the Material World - a dance of eternal essence and temporal experience.
Spiritual World: The Source and Self
At the highest level resides Super-consciousness/the Primordial Source/
Paramatma or Independent God Consciousness. This is the field of infinite potential, pure awareness, and divine intelligence.
From this emanates the Individual Consciousness, the Soul (Atma), described as eternal, blissful, and full of knowledge. It is the spark of divinity within each being, the true self beyond form.
Material World: The Journey of Embodiment
As consciousness enters the realm of form, it encounters the False Ego - the illusion of separation, duality, and identity. Through spiritual refinement, this transforms into the True Ego - a radiant expression of individuality and personality aligned with the soul purpose.
The soul’s expression is shaped by Six Coverings - limitations that veil its pure nature:
1. Place - spatial conditioning
2. Time - temporal perception
3. Attachment - emotional entanglement
4. Knowledge - conditioned understanding
5. Action - karmic imprint
6. Illusion of Individuality (Maya) - the veil of separation
Inner Instruments: Buddhi & Manas
- Intelligence (Buddhi) is the discerning faculty - knowing, judging, and choosing between truth and illusion. It is the compass of wisdom.
- Mind (Manas) is the sensory and emotional processor - seeking pleasure, forming desires, and shaping thoughts through likes and dislikes.
The Senses: Gateways to Experience
The five senses - Smell (Gandha), Taste (Rasa), Form (Rupa), Touch (Sparsa), Sound (Shabda) - are the instruments through which the mind engages the world, crafting the tapestry of experience.
Physical Body: The Temple of Elements
The body is composed of the five great elements - Earth (Prithvi), Water (Jala), Fire (Tejas), Air (Vayu), and Ether (Akasha) - a sacred vessel for consciousness to play, learn, and evolve.
This design reveals how individuals interact not just through personality and emotion, but through layered consciousness.
True connection arises when:
- The False Ego is transcended into True Ego
- Buddhi guides choices with clarity
- Manas is harmonized, not ruled by desire
- The senses are honored as sacred tools, not distractions
- The body is seen as a temple, not a limitation
- And the Soul is recognized in the other - mirroring the divine
